The coronavirus pandemic has caused havoc all across the world, with sport no exception to that.
Football competitions throughout Europe have been suspended as a result, including the Premier League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A and La Liga.
The Champions League and Europa League have both been halted too, with major doubts over whether or not it is possible for the current season to be completed.
UEFA and its 55 member associations will decide on the best course of action in an emergency video call on Tuesday.
Various proposals have been mooted thus far, with calls for Euro 2020 to be postponed in order for the season to be finalised over the summer one of the plausible suggestions.
With that said it also raises the question over what would happen to the players out of contract at their respective clubs come the end of June.
In England the season could well extend beyond the summer, so in that event said players’ involvement could prove to be tricky – considering at that stage they would effectively be free agents.
There is, however, a suggestion from other quarters that the FA and FIFA would grant special permission for short-term contracts, thus facilitating ‘week-by-week deals’.
Below, talksport profiles 10 players who could end up missing the end of the 2019/20 campaign, if and when it recommences…

Citys David Silva |
The playmaker’s memorable decade in Manchester is coming to an end this summer, as he hopes to add a third FA Cup and possibly a first Champions League title to his 11 major trophies with the club.
Whether that happens or not, Silva will forever be etched into City folklore and is without doubt one of the best players to have appeared in the Premier League.
